N2SHAPE offers health and fitness programs for private individuals and groups, at our training facility, in the home, at the workplace and virtually.  Our clients are people that know that they should exercise for their health and well being but have real reasons why they can’t – they don’t have the time, have current or past injuries or health problems, are depressed or dislike and dread exercise.  We work with all shapes and ages but specialize in working with people who have injuries or health issues and are fifty years of age plus.   

We employ a full array of certified fitness professionals who care & are waiting to help from personal trainers to Yoga instructors.  We work with all shapes & ages but primarily work with seniors and those over 50, that want to get in shape, have current or past injuries or health issues.  

Our certified professional trainers provide nutrition coaching, corporate wellness programs, Pilates and yoga classes, injury rehabilitation, active aging programs, and senior fitness. We love what we do because we know it makes a difference to people like you. At N2SHAPE you are not just our clients, you’re our friends!

When she founded N2SHAPE in 1994, Ellen Yates never imagined that the company would become her life’s purpose. Fitness is Ellen’s passion, and she’s created a business that lets her teach people to embrace healthy lifestyles and have fun doing it. Ellen and the great team of personal trainers and specialty instructors she’s assembled have helped hundreds of people lose weight, achieve fitness goals, recover from injuries, and improve their health.

Ellen Yates is the President and Founder of N2Shape which has been providing fitness programs one on one & in small groups to individuals & businesses for over 25 years. Ms. Yates started her career as a health & fitness professional after graduating with a degree in Health & Fitness Management. After leading fitness programs & managing fitness facilities centers for the federal government for 10 years, she left to start her own business, working one on one and in small groups, with private individuals to improve their health and enhance their well-being. Ellen inspires people to move beyond pain & problems with exercise.

Michelle has been with N2Shape for 11 years! She is also a personal trainer. She looks the part as well as you would not want t to meet her in a dark alley! Don’t let that fool you though! She has a gentle touch & knows how all the muscles in the body work blindfolded.

Yoga Instructor

Originally trained in Sivananada Yoga in Kerala, India in 2008, my teaching style has evolved over the years to focus on building strength and functional mobility. I have done additional training in injury management, pre and post natal yoga, and yoga for healthy aging. My yoga classes are purposeful but down to earth – I believe developing your practice requires understanding, persistence, and repetition. Outside of the studio, I have two small kids who remind me every day to stop and smell the proverbial roses (and sometimes actual roses too).

Marci Thomas

Yoga Instructor

Meet Marci, a yoga teacher since 2002. At that time, she completed her training with Tranquil Space in Washington D.C. She is a RYT-200  (meaning she is certified at the 200 hour level) and holds a specialized certification in Itsy Bitsy Yoga, Karma Kids, and prenatal and postnatal yoga.
Marci has extensive experience working at children’s hospitals and with children with physical disabilities. She has also served on the YoKid Board, a non-profit dedicated to sharing yoga and mindfulness to children in the DC metro area. Marci also teaches barre classes, serves as an attorney to small businesses, studies integrative nutrition and massage, and coaches track. Sign up for a class with Marci today!
