Nutrition Tip of the Week – Is Red Meat OK?

Being a Fitness Expert and Personal Trainer I recommend that clients limit red meat to one to two times per week, there are many of us that just plain old love it!
Why Fitness and Nutrition experts advise to avoid red meat? Because it is generally high in saturated fat and along with it high in cholesterol.
If you are going to eat red meat regardless, choose red meats that are not as high in saturated fats which are the lean cuts – less than 5 g of total fat, less than 2 g of saturated fat, and less than 95 mg of cholesterol per serving. Examples of lean beef include round steak and roast, top sirloin steak, and 95 percent lean ground beef.
